In this series of 3 sessions, I take you through the detailed process of creating a synthesized cello. Each phase of the project shows the evolution of the sound from start to finish, using three powerful tools: Vital, Sculpture, and Plasmonic, each contributing unique textures and layers to the final result.
• Creating the sound base: I started by using some pre-made presets and tweaking the oscillators to create a strong foundation for the cello sound.
• Combining the transients: In the second phase, I focused on layering different transients to make the tone fuller and more dynamic.
• EQ and limiting: I applied equalization to balance the frequencies and a multi-band compressor to limit peaks, ensuring a balanced sound.
• Phase alignment: Lastly, I aligned the phases of the sounds to prevent any issues with DC offset and maintain overall clarity.
These steps are key in crafting a rich, synthesized cello sound, and I hope they offer useful insights into the sound design process.
